Your team leader will advise you of any specific items you might need to take for the country that you are going to, but here is a basic packing list for you:
- Passport – it’s good to keep this in a waterproof/plastic bag
- Visa
- Personal spending money
- Toiletries
- For the ladies, sanitary items (some countries do not have these, or have different brands – take enough plus a little more)
- Any prescription medication
- Towel – Microfibre travel towels are great
- Tissues/toilet paper
- Clothing appropriate for the country (check with your team leader for this)
- Small gifts for children (pencils, stickers, balloons)
- Comfortable shoes
- Thongs/flip flops – especially good for shared showers/bathrooms
- Torch
- Panadol/paracetamol
- Hand sanitizer
- Electrolyte tablets/powder
- Hat
- Sunscreen
- Sunglasses
- Mosquito repellent
- Sleepwear that is appropriate to be seen in public!
- Water bottle
- Baby wipes – good for situations with limited access to showers
- A bar of laundry soap or a small amount of washing powder
- A sarong or sarong sized piece of cloth – useful for using as a sheet, blanket, emergency clothing, cover from the sun, pretty much anything really!
- Plastic bags/ziplock bags – good for dirty washing, storing loose items etc.
- Swimming costume – usually recommended for both guys and girls to wear a t shirt and board
- Shorts for swimming.
- Garbage bag – in case anything happens to your suitcase and you need a bag big enough for your stuff
- Waterproofing for your suitcase – not essential but highly recommended by most seasoned travellers. Even a large garbage bag on the inside of your case is good.
